How To Root Xperia S Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Official Firmware 6.2.B.1.96

Another stock firmware 6.2.B.1.96 is now available for Sony Xperia S but unfortunately it is not the most anticipated Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. It is actually a patch to fix perf_event exploit which allow us to gain root access in the earlier 6.2.B.0.211 firmware. For latest Jelly Bean firmware update changelog, please refer to our Sony Xperia S Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Official Firmware update guide. If you have rooted your phone in earlier firmware version, OTA update will eliminate the root access. You need to root your device again using the method below.

For this stage, we still have no news from DooMLoRD whether a simpler one-click-root toolkit for this latest firmware will be released soon. This guide is only applicable for Sony Xperia S LT26i on 6.2.B.1.96 firmware on both locked and unlocked bootloader, please do not try it on other Xperia model or firmware.

Sony Xperia S is officially unveiled in January 2012 and available in the market starting February 2012.
