Pre-requisites & Requirements

  1. Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini i8190 and I8190N (Ensure correct device model and firmware; Check device model – Go to Settings -> About Device -> Model Number)
  2. Windows-based computer or laptop
  3. Download Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini USB driver for Windows and install in your computer.
  4. Connect device to computer with USB cable to complete installation.
  5. Skip this step if you have installed the USB driver.
  6. Enable USB Debugging on your device. How to Enable USB Debugging Mode on Android Devices.
  7. Make sure your phone is charged to 60% 80% to avoid battery blackout and interruption during this tutorial.
  8. We recommend you make a backup on your data and media files before the tutorial. You may restore the data and files if necessary.

  1. Download and extract in a folder in computer.
  2. Ensure you select the correct zip for your device.
  3. Download the correct firmware and use 7z to extract *.zip or *.7z to get *.tar or *tar.md5 in a folder in computer.
  4. Power off your device.
  5. Enter Download Mode by pressing and hold the Volume Down key, Home button, and Power button.
  6. You should see a warning triangle sign, press Volume Up to continue.
  7. You should see Odin Mode at the top and Downloading… , Do not turn off target!!
  8. Launch Odin executable file by double-clicking on Odin3 v3.07 exe.
  9. Connect your device to your computer with USB cable.
  10. Wait until Odin to show an “Added” message at the lower-left message box.
  11. After your device is detected by Odin, click on the PDA button and select the *.tar or *.tar.md5.
  12. Make sure the Repartition option is not checked under Options checked on Auto Reboot.
  13. Click Start button to flash *.tar or *.tar.md5 to your device. Monitor the flash progress on Odin.
  14. A green “PASS” message should show for a success flashing.
  15. Your device shall reboot automatically.
  16. If you fail to flash *.tar.md5 firmware, remove the extension of *.md5 with only *.tar and try to re-flash again.
  17. Try reboot your device for several times manually before use.
  18. Download Root Checker to check your device root status.

    power off your device and try to restart the phone. If it is not bootable, power off your device, press and hold volume up, power button and home button to enter recovery mode. Wipe data and restart the phone.

    where is the .tar or .tar.md5.?

      Krisnsa, you need to extract the zip file in order to get the *.tar. However, the zip could be in 7z zip format. You need to download the 7z for Windows in order to unzip the file. I got the link above. Check it out and let us know it works for you.

    Fariez, I got a best answer from you via Xda. You may redownload the firmware and Odin. Force stop Samsung Kies in Task Manager and more you can do. Refer post here.
