I have just upgraded the firmware to 4.2.2 using Odin as described above but now I cannot make phone calls and the IMEI numbers are different under the battery and on the software screen. Please can someone help me. I am on 3 network in UK

It seem like you have flashed a different firmware for your devices that prevent you to make any calls. You can either flash back to stock Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean firmware using our guide or waiting us to provide the guide to change CSC.

Thanks for the quick reply but I have tried that method. No luck. The UK 3 firmware on the SamMobile website was not the same as what came on the phone originally and initially it kept going through a bootup loop. My new IMEI number is 004999010640000 which is completely different from the original 354017/05/956935/6. Is there a generic 4.1.2 UK firmware I could try? Thanks

Hi, this is the generic firmware for UK. You might try to flash it through Odin. https://hotfile.com/dl/185530513/e4a9c2e/I9300XXELL4_I9300OXAELL4_BTU.zip.html

I’ve fixed it!! I originally tried to update firmware to 4.2.2 which must have not been suitable for the UK. I then tried the firmware for the network I am on – still didn’t work. Then I wondered what BTU firmware was and as you say it is a generic firmware. Just flashed it and after I sorted out the boot loop I got a text message. Thanks for your help. Can’t wait for an official 4.2.2 or 4.3 to be released. There are some nice looking features. Sweltering in 32 degree heat here!! Not used to this in England!!
