How to Change CSC on Samsung Galaxy Devices
CSC is the abbreviation of Customer Sales Code. CSC is vary depending on the region that your headset is sold and branded by the carriers. You could probably get a different CSC even in the same country due to the variety of carriers in the same region. For example, you get a Galaxy S4 in France but found out the CSC as XEF while your friends might get NRJ CSC code. According to Samsunggalaxysforums, the CSC firmware file contains a list of definitions for determining which network you are connected to. By changing the CSC, your device may lose the basic capability to make call, send out text message and even cannot connect to Mobile Data.
Besides, with a different CSC on your phone with respect to the region, your phone is now undetectable by Samsung Kies software. In other words, Samsung Kies fails to read the phone firmware-CSC value and provide relative firmware update to the phone. Despite of getting official update using Kies, you will not receive firmware update through Over-The-Air (OTA) too due to the mismatch CSC on your Samsung device.
