Pre-requisites & Requirements

  1. Samsung Galaxy S4 (Ensure correct device model and firmware; Check device model – Go to Settings -> About Device -> Model Number)
  2. Windows-based computer or laptop
  3. Download Samsung Galaxy S4 USB driver for Windows and install in your computer.
  4. Connect device to computer with USB cable to complete installation.
  5. Skip this step if you have installed the USB driver.
  6. Enable USB Debugging on your device. How to Enable USB Debugging Mode on Android Devices.
  7. Make sure your phone is charged to 60% 80% to avoid battery blackout and interruption during this tutorial.
  8. We recommend you make a backup on your data and media files before the tutorial. You may restore the data and files if necessary.

Instructions:

  1. Download all files in Download Section in computer.
  2. Extract Odin307.zip into a new folder at desktop, renamed folder to Odin.
  3. Install Odin by double click on exe file in Odin folder in Step 2.
  4. Now, power off your device. Reboot into ODIN Mode/ Download Mode by pressing and hold the Volume Down key, Home button, and Power button.
  5. Connect your device to computer via micro USB cable. Make sure you have Samsung USB Driver installed in computer in order to detect your device. A message “Added!!” will shown in Odin software UI on your computer.
  6. Now, click on the PDA button in Odin, browse and select SCH-I545_MD2_423399_Kernel.tar.md5. Make sure Re-Partition check box is NOT selected.
  7. Click Start to begin the flashing process. Reboot your device once the flash is completed.
  8. By flashing the prerelease kernel file, it will remove the Root block on your device.
  9. Now, extract motochopper-supersu.zip file into a new folder at desktop, renamed folder to SuperSU.
  10. Open Run.bat file within SuperSU folder. A pop-up windows request for acceptation of new computer connection. Select OK to proceed.
  11. Motochopper script runs and your device will reboot automatically. Once your device reboot, check SuperSU apps if any updates is available in Google Play Store.
  12. Open SuperSU app and update the binary to latest version. It is to avoid losing root access later.
  13. Download Root Checker in Google Play to check the root status.
  14. Now, we need to restore VRUAMDK stock kernel on your device.
  15. Power off your device. Reboot into ODIN Mode/ Download Mode by pressing and hold the Volume Down key, Home button, and Power button.
  16. Connect your device to computer via micro USB cable.
  17. Now, click on the PDA button in Odin, browse and select SCH-I545_MDK_562219_Kernel.tar.md5. Make sure Re-Partition check box is NOT selected.
  18. Click Start to begin the flashing process. Reboot your device once the flash is completed.
  19. By flashing the stock kernel file, your device is now fully rooted and on the original stock firmware as the device shipped.
